Crime

 

Wallis and Futuna comprises of three volcanic tropical islands and a number of tiny islets located northeast of Fiji and west of Samoa in the South Pacific Ocean. The territory is split between two island groups lying about 260 kilometres apart. The population of Wallis and Futuna is approximately 12,000. The Wallis and Futunian community in New Caledonia numbers some 35,000. Crime levels are low.

 

Health

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) does not provide any health cover in Wallis and Futuna Islands. Make sure you have adequate travel health insurance and accessible funds to cover the cost of any medical treatment abroad and repatriation.

 

If you need emergency medical assistance during your trip, dial 15 and ask for an ambulance. You should contact your insurance/medical assistance company promptly if you are referred to a medical facility for treatment.

 

Visas

 

Wallis and Futuna Islands are a Territorial Collective (Collectivité d’Outre-Mer) of France. If your passport describes you as an EU Citizen you will not need a visa to enter Wallis and Futuna Islands. 

 

Passport validity

 

Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. No additional period of validity beyond this is required.

 

The French authorities have confirmed they will accept British passports extended by 12 months by British Embassies and Consulates under additional measures put in place in mid-2014.

 

Emergency travel documents

 

Emergency travel documents are accepted for entry, airside transit and exit from Wallis and Futuna Islands.

 

Yellow fever

 

Yellow fever vaccination is required for travellers who are arriving from, or have transited through, countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.
